Gerard van der Wal
European Law and Competition Law
Gerard van der Wal has been a partner at Windt Le Grand Leeuwenburgh since 2016 and has practiced law since 1977. He has extensive experience in European law and competition law, with a focus on state aid, intellectual property law, free movement, and trade relations with third countries. He represents both public authorities and private parties and regularly litigates before national courts and the Court of Justice of the EU. Previously, he was the resident partner of Houthoff Buruma in Brussels.
He has been closely involved in state aid matters concerning the privatization of Arbeidsvoorziening (Kliq), the restructuring of the HSL-South, as well as the rescue of PSV and FC Twente.
Chambers and Partners recognizes Gerard van der Wal as the Senior Statesman in his field.
